Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness.
- Robertson Davies
I wish I would have said that - it is exactly what I believe. I've been thinking about happiness and what it means to me, to others, to life. Would I be happy if I got a book published? Yes, but for how long? What makes a person "happy". I agree with Mr. Davies that is quite possibly glandular.
Finishing NaNo made me happy? I guess, that is true but now it is hard work ahead. I find myself "in between projects" at the moment waiting for the book to cool and the copy writing to heat up. And to tell you the truth, I feel a bit lost. So, I think I will see what treasures I can pluck from my own brand of unhappiness. You just never know what might happen. . .
